Wildcats Working the Line

What to expect: The Food Bank runs a well-organized program, in which volunteers from our group and others are split into various teams to sort and process food donations. You’ll also find plenty of opportunities to chat with other alums and to show some Purple Pride in our community!

What happens after: You’re invited to join other NU Club and Big Ten Club members at a no-host luncheon at a nearby Mexican restaurant.

Please note these safety requirements: No open toed or high-heeled shoes. Minimum age for volunteers is 14 years old, and volunteers under 18 are required to bring proof of age with picture (school ID, California ID, passport or birth certificate). Volunteers will need to sign a release form. Limited parking is available on site and there is free street parking as well. Bring your canned goods to donate.

Everyone who RSVPs through this link for this no-cost event will receive a free NU Club of LA t-shirt or tote bag!

Northwestern Alum Bruce Norris

Norris’ 2010 Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy-drama Clybourne Park puts a new spin on Lorraine Hansberry’s classic A Raisin in the Sun. The play cleverly examines both real estate and race relations in a northwest Chicago neighborhood fifty years apart. In 1959, a white couple sets off a community controversy when they inadvertently sell their bungalow to the area’s first black family. Half-a-century later, gentrification issues arise when a black couple clashes with a white couple who want to buy and demolish the house. The entire original Playwrights Horizons’ off-Broadway cast, Crystal A. Dickinson, Brendan Griffin, Damon Gupton, Christina Kirk, Annie Parisse, Jeremy Shamos and Frank Wood, reunite along with original director Pam MacKinnon for this production at the Mark Taper Forum.
