Other NU-connected Non-Profits:
Minds Matter (www.mindsmatter.org) a non profit dedicated to transforming the lives of accomplished high school students from low income families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success. It is a completely volunteer organization–every student is paired with 2 young, successful professionals who mentor them through the program. The organization is also self funded–Minds Matter pays for everything for the students–summer programs at leading colleges, test prep kits, materials, travel costs, etc. The organization has an exceptional track record. Since its inception in 1991, every Minds Matter student has graduated from a 4-year college or university.
Crescendo Young Musicians Guild (www.CYMG.org) CYMG is a non-profit music education and community service organization that provides quality music instruction, mentoring and performance opportunities to students who may otherwise not have them. Founded by NU Music Alum Pin Chen, CYMG promotes a spirit of service while bringing students and families of all cultural and socio-economic backgrounds together to work toward a common goal: to enrich their communities through music.
